Day 194

At a different store today. At least their soda display didn't skip Thanksgiving like the one earlier this week!

Day 193

October 30
Fall really is here!

Day 192

October 29
Sarah's turn to make dinner. She wanted to make mac n cheese but we're trying to switch to vegan so we made the Macaroni Not Cheese from the Engine 2 Diet website. It was really pretty good. I didn't miss the cheese at all.

Day 191

The kids always love to see what the soda cases have been stacked like when we go shopping. Couldn't the Santa at least wait until after Thanksgiving?

Day 190

We've decided to add Home Ec class to our homeschool experience.  The girls will be taking turns planning and preparing a meal (with supervision) once a week.  Hannah will take Tuesdays; Sarah, Wednesdays.  This evening Hannah did the prep for her first meal: peeling and chopping the veggies for lentil soup. In the morning, she'll add the liquid, seasonings, and lentils and turn on the crockpot. She also made her very first loaf of bread. She got a little wild punching it down when it raised a little too high, so the top is a little funny looking, but it smells amazing!

Day 182

Another beautiful day on the Oregon Coast.  Today we went to a shop that said on the outside that it had kites. Charlie likes kites. We ended up buying a new purse for me, as well as one for each girl for Christmas. They're hand made out of old jeans and so cute.

We also stopped by Face Rock Creamery and sampled some of their cheese.

Then we headed down 101 instead of going home the normal way.  That way, I could look for several more letterboxes on our way. We stopped at Cape Blanco Lighthouse to look for one that was no longer there.  It was beautiful but really windy!

Another stop in Brookings for a letterbox at a cemetery. We bypassed a couple in between because it was rainy in a few places.

Another couple boxes were attempted but not found. But I was first finder on a box that had been planned nearly two years ago on a lovely little botanical wayside!

Day 181

A beautiful Sabbath birthday at the coast. We went for a walk by the Coquille River Lighthouse, then went down to the beach near Devil's Kitchen State Park. Then over to the fish hatchery where we fed some fish and laughed at the little ones trying to swim "upstream" where the water jets were pouring into the growing pond.

Oh, and did I mention, there were letterboxes at all those places?  :D

Day 172

Pretty moon tonight. It's not quite full until tomorrow but still looked cool. The cloud moved in just before I started taking pictures but that's ok.
