Day 342

March 29

Today was a blast!  We went on an historic train from Hood River down to Parkdale, only 10 miles from the base of Mt Hood. They did an old time western show about whiskey bootleggers trying to smuggle whiskey on the train. We had a fantastic lunch at Solera Brewery - a really nice wild rice veggie burger they make right there. I even found a letterbox not far from where the train stops. On the way home, we had dinner with my brother and his wife, then almost got locked inside a cemetery in Oregon City, going after another letterbox too close to dusk.

Day 341

March 28

A beautiful but drizzly day along the Columbia Gorge. We drove over to Multnomah Falls, did some more letterboxing, went to the Cascade Locks, the Bonneville Dam,  the fish hatchery,  and just had fun.

Day 340

March 27

Busy week this week, getting everything caught up before we head out for a fun anniversary weekend trip. Someplace different this year, rather than the Oregon Coast like always. This year we're heading to Hood River, along the Columbia Gorge. Never been there before, but it sounded like fun! We left early Friday morning so I could do some letterboxing on the way to Portland. Our first stop was at a little cemetery in Grants Pass.

Day 320

March 7

Spent a beautiful Sabbath in the Redwoods at Crescent City. We drove through the woods past the Stout Grove.  Then, even though it was foggy at the coast, we enjoyed a picnic overlooking the ocean. At least it wasn't too cold. We found 3 out of 5 letterboxes that we looked for, found some decent sized agates near Pebble Beach, and all in all had a relaxing day.

Day 319

The only howl rooms we could find in Crescent City, CA only had one bed. So we packed our camping cots for the girls. Our room is quite small, so Sarah's cot is right next to the door. At the end of Hannah's cot, we have about 6" to walk past on the way to the restroom. Oh well. We're looking forward to a glorious Sabbath on the coast tomorrow! Perhaps some letterboxing, maybe some hunting for agates. Definitely the picnic lunch we packed. Can't wait!

Day 313

February 28

A gorgeous Sabbath afternoon. We went out letterboxing with a Sarah's best friend, and her mom and brother. One of our stops was in Lithia Park in Ashland.

Day 229

December 6
Today was overcast, but didn't rain. We had a great time looking up a few letterboxes, then just before dusk we went up to Shore Acres to see their gorgeous display of Christmas lights.

Day 182

Another beautiful day on the Oregon Coast.  Today we went to a shop that said on the outside that it had kites. Charlie likes kites. We ended up buying a new purse for me, as well as one for each girl for Christmas. They're hand made out of old jeans and so cute.

We also stopped by Face Rock Creamery and sampled some of their cheese.

Then we headed down 101 instead of going home the normal way.  That way, I could look for several more letterboxes on our way. We stopped at Cape Blanco Lighthouse to look for one that was no longer there.  It was beautiful but really windy!

Another stop in Brookings for a letterbox at a cemetery. We bypassed a couple in between because it was rainy in a few places.

Another couple boxes were attempted but not found. But I was first finder on a box that had been planned nearly two years ago on a lovely little botanical wayside!

Day 181

A beautiful Sabbath birthday at the coast. We went for a walk by the Coquille River Lighthouse, then went down to the beach near Devil's Kitchen State Park. Then over to the fish hatchery where we fed some fish and laughed at the little ones trying to swim "upstream" where the water jets were pouring into the growing pond.

Oh, and did I mention, there were letterboxes at all those places?  :D

Day 180

Heading to the coast. I'm ready to do some letterboxing!
